Description.
The inspiration for this work came from his desire to sculpt a character in armor, and he chose the concept of “ghost”, which is his specialty.
In Japanese culture, ghost does not mean apparition, but is closer to the existence of demons. When sculpting the armor, Keisuke Yoneyama did not use a neat and symmetrical realistic rendering. Instead, he used asymmetrical streamlines to create a liquid metal form that creates a strong sense of “wrapping” - the armor looks like it's grown on a ghost. After the sculpture was completed, Kaike Yoneyama felt that the overall shape was lacking. So he tried to incorporate biological elements, adding a pair of long horns to the ghost, which immediately increased the momentum and made Yoneyama feel that the work was complete. In the end, Yoneyama combined the two iconic elements of “ghost” and “armor” into one, and named it “Rakshasa Armor”, which became the finishing touch.
